Shipping
Where do you ship?
We currently ship to all U.S. states except Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. We will be expanding shipping to most of the US in the future.
When will my plants ship?
To keep your plants safe, we ship once a week on Mondays.
Any orders placed Monday–Sunday will go out the following Monday to avoid weekend shipping delays.

How long does shipping take?
We ship exclusively with UPS 2-Day Service to ensure your plants spend as little time in transit as possible. Most orders arrive within 2 business days once they leave our nursery. If you need your plants sooner, you can choose Express Shipping at checkout for even faster delivery.
How do you package plants for safe shipment?
Each plant is shipped in its pot (unless otherwise noted) and securely packaged to prevent movement and temperature shock. During colder or hotter weather, we may include heat packs or insulation for extra protection.
Will I get a refund if shipping costs less than I paid?
Yes! If your actual shipping cost comes in more than $5 under the flat rate you paid, we’ll automatically refund the difference to your original payment method after your order ships.
Pickup & Delivery
Where are you located?
Life and Lair is a small, boutique nursery in Palm Bay, Florida.
Can I visit Life & Lair to shop in person?
We’re not open to the public — Life & Lair is a licensed home-based nursery and operates online only. All orders must be placed through our website or social channels.
We offer local pickup and delivery options for customers near Palm Bay, FL. Simply select your preferred option and schedule it through our checkout system.
We love connecting with local plant lovers online and at community events, but we don’t have an in-person shopping area at this time.
How does local pickup work?
Local pickup is available on Saturdays and Sundays between 9 AM – 5 PM. You’ll choose a 30-minute pickup time at checkout through our scheduling tool.
Pickups take place in the UPS Store Parking Lot at 1150 Malabar Rd SE, Ste 111, Palm Bay, FL 32907 — look for our delivery vehicle in the lot. Please do not go inside the store.

How does local delivery work?
Local delivery is available on Saturdays and Sundays between 9 AM – 5 PM for customers within 10 miles of 32907. During checkout, select a 30-minute delivery window that works best for you. Deliveries are made by Life & Lair directly for a flat $8 fee.
Please ensure someone is home to receive the plants at your scheduled time — orders cannot be left outside or unattended due to temperature risks. All plants are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee when received during the scheduled delivery window.

Orders & Policies
What is your Live Arrival Guarantee?
We guarantee that your plant will arrive alive and healthy on the first delivery attempt if it’s received promptly. To qualify, you must:
- Be available to receive the package on delivery day and bring it inside promptly.
- Contact us with clear photos of the plant and packaging within 24 hours of delivery.
- Provide a correct, complete shipping address when ordering.

Can I change or cancel my order?
If you need to change or cancel an order, please contact us right away.
We can usually cancel or update an order before it’s processed. Once an order has been shipped or marked for delivery, it can no longer be modified or stopped in transit.
Please note that address changes can’t be made after payment is processed — in those cases, the order will need to be refunded and placed again with the correct information.
Can I return or exchange a plant?
We do not accept returns or exchanges on plants once they leave our care. Please read product descriptions carefully before ordering.
What happens if I enter the wrong address?
Please contact us immediately if you notice an error before your order has shipped or been marked for delivery. For security reasons, we are unable to change shipping and delivery addresses once payment is processed — in these cases, the order will need to be refunded and placed again with the correct address.
Once an order is shipped or marked for delivery, rerouting is not available. Incorrect or incomplete addresses may result in delays or loss of the package, and we cannot be responsible for damage resulting from address errors.
Always double-check your details at checkout.
What if my plant arrives damaged?
If the plant is clearly non-viable upon arrival, we’ll offer a replacement or store credit (at our discretion) once you follow the steps outlined in our Live Arrival Guarantee.
We do not cover leaf damage.
Plant Care & Acclimation
How should I care for my plant when it arrives?
Remove your plant from the box immediately and place it in bright, indirect light. Avoid repotting or heavy watering for the first 1-2 weeks while it adjusts to its new environment.
Do I need a humidifier?
While most aroids can adapt to average indoor humidity, they’ll thrive in 60%+ humidity. Using a humidifier or grouping plants together can help maintain ideal conditions.
How often should I water my plant?
Most aroids — especially Alocasia — prefer to dry out slightly between waterings. Always check the soil first; if the top few inches are dry, it’s time to water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain.
My plant looks droopy after shipping. Is it okay?
Yes — mild drooping, slight leaf curl, or minor cosmetic blemishes are normal after shipping. Give the plant a week or two to recover and acclimate. It should perk up once it’s settled.
