Shipping policy

At Life & Lair, every plant is prepared, packaged, and shipped with meticulous care to ensure it arrives healthy and ready to thrive in its new lair. Because plants are living products, we follow specific shipping procedures designed to keep them safe during transit.


⏰ Shipping Schedule

All live plant orders ship once a week on Mondays to minimize transit time and reduce the risk of plants sitting in carrier facilities over the weekend. We also offer local pickup and local delivery options for customers within 10 miles of Palm Bay, FL. These appear at checkout through our scheduling system.

  • Orders placed after Sunday at 6:00 PM ET will ship the following Monday.
  • Orders are processed and shipped in the order they are received.
  • Shipping and delivery are separate services — only shipped orders leave our facility on Mondays. Local pickup and deliveries are made Saturdays/Sundays.

During busy periods, holidays, or in the event of a natural disaster (we’re located in a hurricane-prone area), processing and delivery times may be longer than usual. If a severe weather event or emergency impacts shipping, you’ll be notified directly and given the option to cancel your order or wait until operations resume.


✈️ Shipping Methods

We ship exclusively via UPS, as they are the most reliable carrier for ensuring your plants arrive safely and on time.

  • UPS 2-Day Air — Flat rate $18 for all orders. This method provides fast, reliable delivery and ensures your plants spend as little time as possible in transit.
  • UPS Express (Next Day Air Saver) — Flat rate $38 for overnight delivery if you’d like your plants to arrive even faster.

Orders are shipped on Mondays only to prevent weekend delays. Every shipment includes tracking information so you can follow your plants’ journey from our Florida nursery to your door.

➡️ Shipping Overages: If your actual shipping cost ends up being less than what you paid, we’ll refund the difference (anything over $5) back to your original payment method.

Please note that all delivery times are estimates and may be subject to carrier delays, especially during high-volume seasons or adverse weather conditions.

📍 Tracking Your Order
All shipments receive a tracking number, which will be sent to you via email once your order ships.

  • If you’ve created a customer account, you can also view your tracking information directly from the “My Account” page alongside your order details.
  • If you checked out as a guest and haven’t received your shipment confirmation email (after allowing enough time for processing), please check your spam or promotions folder.

🌡️ Weather & Safety

Plant health is our top priority. During periods of extreme heat or cold, shipments may be temporarily delayed to protect your order from temperature stress. We package each plant carefully — typically shipping in its nursery pot with padding — and may include heat packs or other protective materials when necessary.
(Unless otherwise noted, all plants ship potted.)


📍 Shipping Restrictions

Due to state agricultural regulations, we are unable to ship plants to:
Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Texas. Expanded shipping to most states will be available in the future.

We do not offer international shipping at this time.


📬 Customer Responsibilities

To ensure your plant’s safe arrival and maintain eligibility for our Live Arrival Guarantee, please review the following:

  • Correct Address: Customers are responsible for entering an accurate, complete shipping address at checkout. Orders shipped to incorrect addresses are not eligible for refunds or replacements.
  • ✅ First Delivery Attempt: Someone must be available to receive and open the package promptly on the first delivery attempt. Delays caused by missed deliveries or packages left in extreme conditions may void the guarantee.
  • ✅ Delivery Issues: If your order arrives damaged or non-viable, email us with clear photos within 24 hours of delivery so we can review the situation.

🌿 Additional Notes

We take every precaution to package your plants safely and securely, but Life and Lair is not responsible for delays caused by the carrier, weather, or incorrect delivery information provided at checkout.

Our Live Arrival Guarantee covers the condition of your plant only on the first delivery attempt.
